The Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DIDRR) Informative Handbook (अपाङ्गता समावेशी विपद् जोखिम न्यूनीकरण सम्बन्धी जानकारीमूलक हातेपुस्तिका) is a milestone resource officially recognized and published in coordination with the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Home Affairs.

Developed by the Atullya Foundation with the generous support of USAID and the National Federation of the Disabled Nepal (NFDN), this guidebook is designed to close the critical gaps in disaster preparedness for vulnerable populations. It provides accessible, life-saving guidelines tailored specifically for persons with disabilities, their families, and personal caregivers.

Inside, the handbook covers:

  • Step-by-step emergency planning and the creation of disability-inclusive “Go-Bags” (झटपट झोला).
  • Targeted safety measures for Nepal’s primary hazards, including earthquakes, floods, landslides, fires, and pandemics.
  • Actionable advice to ensure emergency shelters, communication channels, and rescue efforts are fully accessible and equitable.

This handbook stands as a vital tool to ensure that disaster risk management in Nepal is truly inclusive, ensuring no one is left behind.
